A Dog On Contemplating Squirrels

Breathes there a dog with soul so dead
Who never to himself has said
"I'll catch that squirrel, bite off his head.
Unless he climbs high on a tree
And from that height looks down at me.
Deprives me of my lawful prey,
Escapes to live another day.
Me of my lawful meal deprives.
Like cats, squirrels have too many lives."
